Pride In Our City


The ‘Pride in our City’ campaign’s primary aim is to enhance the greenscape and floral displays throughout the City of Derry~Londonderry, raise public awareness and foster a sense of civic pride.

With the support of this campaign successes have been achieved within the last decade in Ulster in Bloom, Britain in Bloom, Pride of Place, Best Kept Awards, and Garden Show Ireland. Under the umbrella of the ‘Pride in Our City Initiative’ in 2010 and 2011, our city was the winner of the ‘Ulster in Bloom City Category’ and was chosen to represent Northern Ireland in the Small City category in the 2011 Britain in Bloom competition. The City was Winner of its category, while also attaining a Silver Gilt award, and a special Environmental Quality Award.

In 2011 the North West Taxi Proprietors representing the City in the Co-operation Ireland Pride of Place Competition, attained the runners-up award for cities Public Health Initiative. In the NIAC Best Kept Awards, Park Village achieved the Welcome Award, while additionally in 2011 the local Conservation Volunteers NI representing the City were awarded the ‘Team Challenge Gold Medal’ at the Garden Show Ireland event at Hillsborough Castle.
